Joo Chiat Caphe

There are quite a few places selling Vietnamese food around here. One is a muslim-friendly place selling only Banh Mi and other local fare like nasi lemak and otah, called Joo Chiat Caphe.

I ordered the Signature Grilled Lemongrass Beef Patty with Hoisin Sauce ($7). As with most banh mi I've tried, the pickled vegetables here are good. Really refreshing and provides a citrusy/acidic kick to counter the hoisin sauce and the lemongrass beef patty. The baguette was nicely toasted.

This gets 4 Aunty Karens. Quite authentic banh mi. The place was small, but you don't feel that it was too crowded when the tables fill up. It kind of feels like you are eating banh mi in Vietnam because of the photo down the entire wall at one side of the restaurant.

4 out of 5 stars on the Aunty Karen scale
