The younger sis was meeting her friend for breakfast at The Apricus Coffee & Food Co and asked if I wanted to tag along. Of course I said YES.

I got the Populus All Day Big Breakky ($26) choosing the chicken harissa sausage to go with the poached eggs, potato rosti, mixed mushrooms, seasonal greens, homemade baked beans, and hollandaise sauce. So did the sis's friend. The sis got the Norwegian Salmon Brown Butter ($23) which had fennel & granny smith apple slaw, shio kombu dust, and spring onions.

The food was good but the service was spotty. They missed my coffee but when they serve it, there was pretty coffee art, so it's not too bad. Then they missed my breakky as well. Completely. When we asked about it, they had to cook it, and probably not like a rush order but after their other existing orders. So sis and friend were almost done with their meal before mine came eventually.

For such lacklustre service, they should get an average rating, but I'm giving them 4.5 Aunty Karens. The food was good and the portions appropriate for the price. The cafe was quite full on an early Sunday morning but not noisy and doesn't feel crowded. Best of all, they waived all three of our coffee for their service mistakes without us even asking for it. I would come here more often if it wasn't so far.

4.5 out of 5 stars on the Aunty Karen scale
