Another Sunday letting Google Maps lead us to a place for our Sunday lunch. Today's brought us to Oven & Fried Chicken at Tanjong Katong. A little further than our usual Katong cafe, but still within walking distance. The area used to be my stomping ground as my primary and secondary schools were here. Both are no longer here having relocated elsewhere.

We got the Crunch Original chicken wings ($21), which were baked instead of fried. You can't really tell that they were not fried. We also got the Tteokbokki ($22) and Steamed Eggs. The steamed eggs were a great choice. Fluffy with lots of sesame oil. Simple and yet so good. The tteokbokki was a hit too. Good level of heat in terms of spiciness, and a great variety of ingredients besides the rice cakes. The star of the show here was the chicken wings. Baked so they are healthier but just as crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

The only complimentary banchan provided here are the radish cubes. Unlike the usual kimchi ones served elsewhere, this was pickled. According to the sis, they help to cut the spiciness of a dish. They were really helpful after the spicy tteokbokki.

I wish they had a variety of banchan, complimentary free-flow would be great. I give this 4 Aunty Karens. Everything was great. Can return when I have a craving for KFC - Korean Fried Chicken but want a healthier version.

4 out of 5 stars on the Aunty Karen scale
