Went to Jewel again today, to get my Macbook Air checked. The Touch ID was cranky. The Apple Store service was great (PSA again: Authorized Reseller is different. Go to the real Apple Store if you want any service and product knowledge). They did a diagnostic check for me and even checked the parts. Everything seemed fine, so I guess the problem might be my thumb 😂.
For lunch, I decided to go to The Hainan Story Chapter Two. It serves traditional Hainanese food in an upmarket restaurant setting. I'm all for elevating hawker food and wanted to try it for myself and wanted to support Hainanese establishment, being a Hainanese.
I ordered the Ultimate Golden Black Pork Cutlet Hainanese Lor Mee ($14.80) and cold Teh C ($3.10). The Lor Mee was good, typically lor mee taste, although the ingredients tasted more atas then the one from the hawker centre in my 'hood. The pork cutlet does help to justify the price tag. I was actually deciding between pork or duck, and pork won this time. Maybe I'll try the duck next time. Although looking at the menu, there are so many other options to try.
This gets 3.5 Aunty Karens. A bit pricy. The service was nothing spectacular. There was no one at the entrance when I arrived and I didn't know whether I was supposed to sit myself or wait to be seated. The wait staff seemed a bit unsure or busy running around. It could be that they were still very new at this location. I will probably return to try the other options with other family members. Support Hainanese. Hopefully, service improves.
