Good Chai People is the latest cafe to join the cafe scene in the Katong / Joo Chiat area. It takes over the space which used to be Ampang Niang Tou Fu.

As with a loit of the new hippy cafes nowadays, the QR code for the menu was pasted on the table and you make your order online. The photos of the food look appetising but can be deceiving. $12 for the Egg and Toast sounded very value-for-money to this cheapo aunty, especially with the photo of a plate laden with eggs, sausages, hashbrowns, avocado, mushrooms, and toasts. Alas, the photo was for illustration only. The $12 was only for the eggs and toast. Each additional ingredient cost an additional $5/6. We decided to add spinach, avocado, and truffle hashbrowns. We also ordered the Creamy Chicken Stew ($18). And for our chai, we both got the Dirty Chai Latte.

The eggs lacked seasoning. We asked for salt and pepper and was given only salt. I normally don't like truffle but I didn't have to worry here as there wasn't even a hint of truffle oil in those hashbrown. The dressing on the spinach was good, very citrusy, and the sourdough toast was good.

The chicken stew was not creamy enough, although it did remind us of the chicken pies our grandma used to make. As for the chai latte, my sis hated it and couldn't finish hers. I was glad that it was a tall glass and not a small glass with lots of ice. However, I think there was too much cardamom so it tasted more like Arabic coffee than dirty chai. Overall, I give this 3.5 Aunty Karens. There are teething problems in this new cafe. I hope they improve.
