Group Therapy Coffee @ Katong V Again

Came here again (here's the review of the previous visit), this time with the other sis and the niece. Wanted to go to a nice place for a nice lunch and they were both free to come with. Plus the sis wanted me to try this pineapple cheesecake place nearby. We've actually been here before, the sis and I. That was a long time ago, and it was our first stop on our cafe-hopping around the 'hood, with the other sis as well. We all ended up sick with caffeine overdoses when we got home. It's real. You can have too much coffee/caffeine.

Back to Group Therapy, we ordered the Wagyu Ribeye Steak Bowl (orzo pasta, roasted vegetables, avocado, poached egg, edamame, furikake, $21), Truffle Carbonara (linguine, bacon, parmesan & black truffle, $19), and Smoked Salmon Avocado Sandwich (multigrain, smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese, side salad, $16).

The Wagyu Ribeye Steak Bowl - the orzo pasta, as indicated in the menu, was replaced with brown rice. I think for our previous visit, we also got the brown rice instead of the orzo. The rice was a bit dry this time around. The cauliflower was roasted well. They were generous with the avocado as with the last time we visited - they gave us half of it. The wagyu was sliced a bit thick and some slices were a bit tough. But overall, the bowl was tasty.

The carbonara was average. The noodles were cooked the al-dente, the egg was cooked just right, with a generous serving of parmesan cheese. The truffle wasn't too strong so it was acceptable to me. It was a plate of creamy goodness, but it wasn't spectacular.

The sandwich was the surprise MVP. It was simple but the ingredients came together perfectly. The multigrain was toasted just right and the smoked salmon was seasoned well. All three of us ranked it the best among the three ordered dishes.

Overall, I give this 4.5 Aunty Karens, the same as the previous visit. I would return to try other menu options.
