Wen Li Taiwanese Food

After a really hard session of wheel yoga today, I went to Wen Li Taiwanese Food for lunch. It was a place I found through Google Maps which is near to where I was doing yoga today. I didn't want to go to the hawker centre that was nearby as it is usually crowded and the food did really interest me. This Taiwanese braised pork rice, lu-rou fan, seemed interesting. It was even nearer than what it seemed on the map. I got the Braised Pork Rice Set ($6.90) which included Taiwanese Rice Pork Rice, Homemade Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, soft boiled egg, chilled cucumber salad.

This reminds me of Lin's Braised, which is like our local version of braised pork rice. How does it compare? I like Lin's Braised better as the preserved vegetables paired well with the pork. Here, the cucumber was too little to complement the braised pork. But I do like that the set comes with popcorn chicken. It makes for a filling meal.

Overall, I give this 3.5 Aunty Karens. The kopitam atmosphere is laid back, not the usual frantic and noisy one at other places. The food was tasty, but I do find it a little pricy. I also wished that they have the non-disposable cutlery for diners who are eating there instead of the one-time use disposable kind. I know it is more convenient for them and no need for washing of the utensils etc., but it makes a difference eating from a proper plate/bowl and a paper one. Anyway, I might come back again after a yoga session if I can't think of other places to go as it is still better than the noisy and busy hawker centre.
