Pizza Maru @ Jewel

Went to Jewel again today. Do you know that Apple conducts free classes for their products and some apps? The older sis has been trying out Procreate and signed us (herself, the niece, and I) up for a free session at Jewel. It was quite fun. They supplied the iPads and we went to the Rain Vortex to do some sketching on the iPad.

After class, we waited for the light show at the Rain Vortex. The younger came to join us for the show. It was a disappointment. There is a Disney-related show and they even have a Mickey statue at the entrance. The show was less than 5 minutes. After we had waited for 30 minutes.

After the show, we went for dinner at Pizza Maru. The nephew joined us. He was the one who suggested the venue for dinner, in fact.

We ordered Garlic Dak Gangjeong Fried Chikin (12pcs; $21.40), Spicy Seafood Toppokki ($18.4), Gangnam Cowboy Premium Pizza (Regular 9"; $22.40), and Cheesy Maru Oppa Classic Pizza (Regular 9"; $22.40).

This is my first visit to this famous Korean pizza place. Their pizza dough is made of interesting superfood ingredients like green tea, chlorella, flax seed, black rice, etc. They also serve the Korean staple of KFC (Korean fried chicken) and topokki.

I'm not sure what was in our pizza dough, but it made for a crispy crunchy pizza crust that is not too doughy and doesn't feel jelat like with other pizza doughs when you eat one too many slices. The toppings were not the usual; I have never seen broccoli on pizzas, but that is not a bad thing.

The chicken was great. Who doesn't like Korean fried chicken, right? The batter was crunchy and crispy and the chicken inside was tender. The topokki was really spicy. They were pretty generous with their seafood.

Overall, I give this 3.5 Aunty Karens. The service was prompt and efficient. Could also be that they were not that busy 😁. The pizza was surprisingly good. I might come back if I'm in the mood for pizzas.

3.5 out of 5 stars on the Aunty Karen scale
