Today, the younger sis and I went to Little Rogue Coffee for lunch. We discovered the place when we went for lunch at Oven & Fried Chicken last year. The place is interesting, very cavernous, with an indoor bicycle stand, a huge common table, and photographs of iconic sights of Joo Chiat on the wall.
We ordered the K-Pop Chicken Burger (Gochujang Fried Chicken Thigh, Kale, Spicy Korean Coleslaw, Cheddar Cheese, Brioche Bun; $22.00), Soft Scrambled Eggs & Ikura (Eggs, Ikura, Truffle Cream, Chives, Sourdough; $19.50), and Tater Tots With Furikake & Sour Cream Mayo ($14.40).
The K-Pop Chicken Burger was really messy to eat as the gochujang was dripping all over the place. I couldn't really taste the spicy coleslaw nor the cheese or kale as the gochujang was overpowering. It was also a tad salty. I wish they had held back on the sauce.
I didn't like the Soft Scrambled Eggs & Ikura. I thought the ikura tasted like cod liver oil. Not a pleasant taste for me. The bread and eggs were okay.
The Tater Tots With Furikake & Sour Cream Mayo were good. They were generous with the tater tots and I like that the sour cream mayo was served separately. However, there wasn't enough of it so towards the end, we just ate plain tater tots.
Overall, I give this 3 Aunty Karens. It was okay, but not spectacular. With so many stellar cafes in the Joo Chiat/Katong area, you need to serve very good food to stand out, which this place, unfortunately, did not. It's not that it wasn't tasty, just that compared to other places, it was forgettable. Given that there are so many options out there, I would not return.
